An eco-conscious sewing kit from Craft & Thrift

To complement my Lou Box top kit listing (you can view it here!), I wanted to write a blog post rounding up all the versions of the Lou Box top I’ve made. This post represents the ones I have currently in circulation, there are others that have been and gone over the years! I love this pattern, it’s so versatile and easy. It’s great for beginners looking to start their dressmaking journey and advanced sewists looking for an easy wardrobe staple. Depending on the fabric you use, it can be smart for work or a night out, or casual for a cafe trip or dog walk.

I wear my Lou box tops almost every day. The kit I sell here in the shop is for the jersey version and comes with 2 metres of deadstock jersey fabric (enough for the largest size), coordinating 100% recycled polyester Gutermann thread, the A4 pattern pieces printed for you and the instruction manual. The digital files are also made available for you to download. They come in a smart box that can be given as a gift or kept for yourself!

I’ve also made this top many times in woven fabric, the pattern covers both in the pieces and instructions. The pattern also comes with 2 different necklines and 3 different hem designs, so you can customise your top to suit your personal style. I used to make the long length curved hem but more recently I’m into the cropped straight hem look. It’s fun to be able to use the same pattern to get so many different looks, you get a lot of bang for your buck!
