November sewing project: the Raspberry rucksack

If you follow on Instagram you might have seen me tease this project over the past few months. According to the 'gram, I started this version of the Raspberry Rucksack back in June, but my progress with it has been in fits and starts. It's not an overly complex pattern, if you can sew a straight line you can manage this bag, but there are a lot of steps and over the summer I found my brain was too overwhelmed to handle it. Having it sitting on my 'to sew' list was blocking my creativity and I found I couldn't mentally move on to more enjoyable projects until I got this one finished. So finally, one day, I did just that.

I made it with some super cheap market stall waxed cotton that I've had in my stash for years. The colour is definitely in my core palate so I know it will go with lots of things in my wardrobe. The patches were from my trip to San Francisco last year (remember when we could go places and do things?) and are from Muir Woods National Monument, Yosemite and Mount Diablo. They represent some of my best and fondest memories of that trip and I'm so glad I get to take them with me every time I take this bag out to play.
